The Watchtower has set up an image of itself as a prophet like Moses, or Elijah. However, when it is convenient, they admit they are just men who can make mistakes.

They can’t have it both ways. Either they are true prophets of God who do not make mistakes, or, they are just men who do err.

Here is what they have claimed:

The Governing Body of the Watchtower Society claims they are “The Faithful and Discreet Slave” of Matthew 24:45 “who alone can give spiritual meat in due season to the household of faith” (Watchtower, Feb. 1, 1952, p. 80).

Then in 1967 they said:

Those who recognize Jehovah’s visible theocratic organization, therefore, must recognize and accept this appointment of the “faithful and discreet slave” and be submissive to it.

So, to disagree with the organization is to disagree with God (Watchtower, Feb. 15, 1976, page 124), and risks disfellowshipping, thus losing one’s opportunity for salvation.

If the Watchtower is going to demand total obedience, then it must necessarily have a flawless record. A record of doctrinal changes and false prophecies would remove from them all moral authority and show them to be what the Bible calls “false apostles and deceitful workers” (2 Corinthians 11:13-15).

To claim they are just men who make mistakes cancels any authority to demand complete obedience. They cannot be a “prophet of Jehovah” who also makes human mistakes.

The individual Jehovah’ Witness will stand before God at the Judgment and answer for himself.
He cannot pass off his personal responsibility to the Watchtower.

The time to discern Truth is now.

Some of the doctrines the Watchtower’s Governing Body have changed throughout their history include:

• The “higher powers” of Romans 13 were originally the civil authorities, then it became Jehovah and Jesus, and today it is again the civil authorities.

• From their earliest years the Watchtower taught that Jesus was to be worshipped. Then in the 1950’s they reversed this teaching so that to worship Jesus was a disfellowshipping offense.

• Similarly, the Watchtower originally taught that the rebirth of Israel was to be expected. However, Judge Rutherford reversed this teaching so that it was not to be seen as prophetic fulfillment. This was the one chance the Watchtower had to be right on a prophecy and they blew it.

The Watchtower Society has been addicted to prophetic expectations and they have used Bible prophecies to motivate the Witnesses to greater efforts “before the end comes.”

There are too many failed prophecies to list but one concerns a home in San Diego, CA. It is called Beth Sarim which in Hebrew means “house of the princes.”

The deed says it was built as a “witness” to the world that Jehovah’s Witnesses expect to be a residence for the “faithful” named in Hebrews 11, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, etc., upon their return to life on earth to help set up God’s kingdom which Judge Rutherford said was “due any time now.”

You can see this house on Google Earth by typing in 4440 Braeburn Road, San Diego, CA. Go to the “street view” and you can see it as a pedestrian would.

The Watchtower sold this “witness” in 1942.
