Mormonism: Who Is Persecuting Whom?
Mormons say that Christians persecute them by saying Mormonism is a cult, not Christian, that is a false religion. If this is persecution then why … do Mormons persecute Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, and all other Christian denominations by saying these churches are “all wrong” and their creeds are an “abomination” in the sight of God? (See the Pearl of Great Price [PGP], Joseph Smith – History, 1:9, 19)
Joseph Smith Said THAT?
So, we talked about some things like why she visited our church. She said she “just wanted to hear about Jesus rather than Joseph” (Smith). So, I mentioned her History of the Church books and asked if I could show her something from it. She said yes, so I got volume 6 and turned to pages 408 and 409. And I read her this statement by Joseph Smith:
God is in the still small voice. In all these affidavits, indictments, it is all of the devil–all corruption. Come on! ye prosecutors! ye false swearers! All hell, boil over! Ye burning mountains, roll down your lava! for I will come out on the top at last. I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet. …

LDS (Mormon) Two Sticks Prophecy
Did Ezekiel prophecy the Book of Mormon? The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) does indeed believe this. How do biblical Christians respond to this belief?
“The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying, ‘Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions: And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.” –Ezekiel 37:15-17
Joseph Smith the Storyteller
Mormon history is beset with conflicts from its very beginning in New York. Joseph Smith was a storyteller who got himself in trouble numerous times with his imaginative stories.
> There was the “glass-looking” arrest where Smith was charged with defrauding people by claiming to find treasure with a “seer stone.” He was given “leg bail” which means “get out of town and don’t come back.”

THE PRE-EXISTENCE: “… before the creation of the world, Heavenly Father had sired and Heavenly Mother had borne millions of their spirit children. After the world was created, these spirits eagerly awaited to come to earth to receive physical bodies. Only the righteous spirits who had followed Jesus (not Satan [Jesus’s brother]) in the pre-existence war in heaven were allowed … to come to earth. They longed to be born into a “righteous” family (Mormon), in which they could learn the “true gospel of Jesus Christ” (Mormonism).” (p. 45)

When the dark suited, well-groomed young men arrived at their door in the Wilders’ early married life, they began to present their flip charts of the time sharing what the Mormons wanted them to know about the Church.
Lynn says, “My analytical brain never slept peacefully back then. …I was so ignorant about Christianity, I didn’t even know intelligent questions to ask… The questions I conjured up came from what they presented to us.” (p. 39)
Book Review: Unveiling Grace Part 1
Unveiling Grace, by former Brigham Young University professor, Dr. Lynn K. Wilder, is an intimate look into not only her life and that of her family’s, but also of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, better known as the Mormon Church.
Lynn and her husband, Michael, joined the Mormon Church as young adults, newly married. Both had been raised in Christian homes, but Lynn, unschooled in the Bible, drifted in college when introduced to Freud, Darwin and Skinner among others. Michael, who believed in Jesus growing up, just couldn’t find a church that suited after leaving home.
Doublethink
Doublethink!!! The art of self-contradiction without being noticed.
Any Bible-based cult must distinguish itself from every other group’s expression of Biblical teaching. Otherwise, the cult’s followers might get the idea that there is somewhere else to go if they have a disagreement with the cult.
Who Joins Spiritually Abusive Groups?
The question of who joins high control religious groups seems like it would have a simple answer. It does not. Nor is there a simple answer to how it happens. The starting place should be the question of what disposes a person to spiritual abuse? Why is a person vulnerable? What differences in people make one vulnerable and another not so vulnerable?
Here is a list that may help you think it through. Which of these statements fit you?
Concerning Mormon Authority & Blacks in the Priesthood
Joseph Smith’s First Vision. Mormons teach that in the pre-existence Lucifer began a war in heaven over the rejection of his plan of salvation. One third of the sons of God sided with Lucifer, one third fought against him, and one third failed to be valiant in the struggle.
Brigham Young said these non-valiant sons of God were cursed from ever holding the Mormon priesthood. So they can be identified they were given the mark of Cain, which Mormons say are the Negro, or dark skinned, features.
