Mormonism: Who Is Persecuting Whom?

Mormons say that Christians persecute them by saying Mormonism is a cult, not Christian, that is a false religion. If this is persecution then why … do Mormons persecute Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, and all other Christian denominations by saying these churches are “all wrong” and their creeds are an “abomination” in the sight of God? (See the Pearl of Great Price [PGP], Joseph Smith – History, 1:9, 19)

According to the same text above, Pearl of Great Price, Joseph Smith – History, 1:17, God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph in this First Vision telling him not to join any of the churches. However, … when Brigham Young told the story he said, “The Lord did not come …. But He sent His angel to this same obscure person, Joseph Smith, Jun., who afterwards became a Prophet, Seer, and Revelator, and informed him that he should not join any of the religious sects of the day, for they were all wrong” (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 2, page 171).

There are actually nine differing versions of the vision. Was this the First Vision, or the First Version?
