NWT* Bible Passages to Ponder: Rom. 8:26-27

Thought provoking …

First, the definition of “ponder” from google.com:

Romans 8:26-27 (New World Translation [NWT]*)

26  In like manner, the spirit also joins in with help for our weakness; for the problem is that we do not know what we should pray for as we need to, but the spirit itself pleads for us with unuttered groanings.

27  But the one who searches the hearts knows what the meaning of the spirit is, because it [the spirit] is pleading in harmony with God for the holy ones.

What are the two activities of “holy spirit” in this passage? Does this strike you as the activity of an impersonal force much like electricity? (See also Acts 13:2 where he speaks, John 14:26 where he teaches, Acts 5:3 where he is lied to, Micah 2:7 where he becomes impatient.)

Consider this verse as you ponder our question:

The undeserved kindness of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the sharing in the holy spirit be with all of you. (2 Cor. 13:14, NWT)

And the same verse in the English Standard Version (ESV):

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

And in the New American Standard (NASB):

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.
