The Watchtower teaches that since Jesus is a creature in their theology, he cannot receive worship. Only Jehovah (the Father) can be worshipped.
Here is the question:
Is it true worship that is being rendered to Jehovah in Revelation 4:9-11?
Isn’t it the same kind of worship that is being rendered to Jehovah AND Jesus in Revelation 5:11-14?
Note the words repeated in both passages such as “glory and honor and power” that are given in chapter 5 to both the Father and the Lamb. Let’s compare the two passages:
Revelation 4:9-11 (KJV)
(9) “And when those beasts give glory and honor and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever, (10) the four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, (11) ‘Thou are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power; for thou hast created all things and for thy pleasure they are and were created.’”
New World Translation (NWT):
(9) “Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanksgiving to the One seated on the throne, the One who lives forever and ever, (10) the 24 elders fall down before the One seated on the throne and worship the One who lives forever and ever, and they cast their crowns before the throne, saying: (11) ‘You are worthy, Jehovah our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because you created all things, and because of your will they came into existence and were created.’”
AND
Revelation 5:12-13 (KJV)
(12) “… Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches, and wisdom and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing. And every creature which is in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, ‘Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.”
NWT:
(12) “… and they were saying with a loud voice: 'The Lamb who was slaughtered is worthy to receive the power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.’ (13) And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and underneath the earth and on the sea, and all the things in them, saying: ‘To the One sitting on the throne and to the Lamb be the blessing and the honor and the glory and the might forever and ever.’”
Note: The Watchtower teaches that Jesus, who they say is one and same with Michael the Archangel, is a creature and this verse says every creature, therefore Jesus cannot be a creature or he would be worshipping himself.)
